Email studentenvsust_subscribe@maillist.ox.ac.uk to join our student mailing list for monthly news, opportunities and events.

Green Impact

This is our flagship programme for student engagement. Green Impact provides practical ways to develop your knowledge across a broad range of environmental issues with a healthy dose of fun and competition thrown in.

It also gives students valuable training opportunities to develop communication, leadership and motivation skills as well as acquiring skills in environmental auditing.

Internships

The University’s Environmental Sustainability team offers various sustainability-focused internships. The team and Green Impact teams also make use of micro-internships and student consultancy services. You can submit an application for any of these initiatives through the Careers Service, and subscribe to our newsletter to hear about opportunities as they arise.

Research and dissertations

If you are working on a project, like a dissertation as part of your study or role at the University, we may be able to help. We could add real value to your project by sharing our knowledge and data. Please note, we cannot help with funding. If you're interested in partnering with us, get in touch via sustainability@admin.ox.ac.uk.

Guides and resources

Green Impact

Green Impact is our flagship programme for staff engagement, providing practical ways to develop your knowledge across a broad range of environmental issues with a healthy dose of fun and competition thrown in.

It also gives staff valuable training opportunities to develop communication, leadership and motivation skills as well as acquiring skills in environmental auditing. Anyone with an interest in improving their work environment can start their own team. There may already be a team in your building - contact us if you are unsure and we can point you in the right direction. With our support you can become involved in the Green Impact programme and join a network of likeminded people across the university.

Environmental Management training

Environmental Risk and Compliance training is available through the Safety Office. To view available courses visit the Safety Office Training A-Z (accessible through single sign-on).

Sustainable purchasing

The University's Purchasing Department has created a slideshow called 'Introduction to Purchasing' which includes a useful overview of how to build in sustainable considerations when making a purchase for the University. Visit the University Purchasing website to watch (accessible through single sign-on).

Recommended everyday items and their item number

We have compiled a list of sustainable alternatives for everyday products used across all departments. Please consult this list when purchasing paper, produce for your coffee station or staff kitchenette, and cleaning products. If you wish to enquire about additional items, please get in touch.

Monitor utility use in the building

Access System Link to monitor resource consumption in your building (suitable for building managers). By using System Link building managers can monitor and control resource consumption, identify issues, reduce emissions and save on bills. Follow the Systems Link user guide for more information

Link up and learn across the community

The wider collegiate University, Oxford city and Oxfordshire county is filled with fantastic opportunities to learn new skills or put your knowledge and interest into practice.  All to help build a better environment locally and globally.
