The Sustainability Steering Group (SSG) sits each term. It oversees the University’s Environmental Sustainability Policy.
SSG makes recommendations to the Buildings and Estates Sub-Committee, Planning and Resource Allocation Committee of Council on the development of the University's Environmental Sustainability Policy and the targets it should adopt within each of the policy areas.
The Sustainability Steering Group consists of:
(a) the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Planning and Resources) who shall chair the group
(b) a nominee of the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division with appropriate expertise, agreed with the Conference of Colleges
(c) a nominee of the Social Sciences Division with appropriate expertise, agreed with the Conference of Colleges
(d) a nominee of the Conference of Colleges, with appropriate expertise
(e) the Chairman of the Buildings and Estates Sub-Committee
(f) the Director of Estates
(g) the Operations Director of Estates Services
(h) a student, appointed by the OUSU Executive from among their own number or from the membership of the OUSU Ethics and Environment Committee.
