Behaviour change and Sustainability

How come we all know what needs to be done and yet, don’t do it? Why do people who genuinely care for the environment struggle to adopt sustainable practices in their work place?

This workshop sets out to explore different behavioural change theories and reflects on how they can be used in your department to help you achieve your sustainability goals. This will be a space to learn and share with other people from across the University, looking at how we can motivate impactful behaviour change.

The workshop will cover:

  • A brief introduction to behaviour change theory using DEFRA’s four E’s of engagement
  • Selling the sizzle not the sausage- how to make the greener option sound attractive
  • Nudge theory - tips on when and how to remind people to make the right choices

There will be time at the end of the session to network with other Green Impact teams over tea and coffee and to ask any questions you may have.
