This is the latest step in a long-term programme aimed at increasing biodiversity at Old Road Campus, in line with the goals set out in the University's recently launched Environmental Sustainability Strategy.
The seed mix the team used includes 10 native species of UK-harvested annual wildflowers that used to be commonly found in cornfields, including Corncockle, Cornflower and Corn Marigold. The team hope that they will be in flower by August, providing food and habitats for a range of pollinator insects and other wildlife.
