Sustainable Food Month 2022

Sustainable Food Month is here! Everyone is welcome to join and follow these five steps:

  1. Eat more vegetables, fruits, grains and pulses.
  2. Avoid food waste and excessive packaging.
  3. Reduce your meat consumption, especially red meats.
  4. Drink tap water.
  5. Choose items that are sourced responsibly (look for the relevant accreditation symbol on the packaging).

Meet the Environmental Sustainability team

Throughout the month, we will visit some University buildings to have a face-to-face conversation and hear what you think about sustainable food and environmental sustainability in general.

Watch this space to learn when and where you can meet us.

Students are invited tto take action from our Sustainable Food Campaign in the Oxford Carbon Challenge. Each action you pledge to try or already do will credit you with points and show the change on your carbon footprint calculator.

Join your college team on Oxford Carbon Challenge and take steps for a more sustainable world.

We invite you to set up an event with your colleagues, students and staff. Here are some ideas for fun activities around sustainable food:

Host a 'come dine with me' or potluck meal

Why not host a lunch or dinner party to celebrate sustainable food month at Oxford University? Enjoy a fun evening with friends and eat delicious sustainable food.

Try a new recipe

Last year we collected recipes from people across the university and created the Sustainable Recipe Collection 2021.

We are continuing to extend our collection: submit your favourite sustainable recipe. Recipes must be original or with your own personal sustainable twist. Please include in your entry an original photo and carbon footprint score.

Tell us what you're up to!

We want to see what you have done for Sustainable Food Month! So, take photos, share on social media or our Teams channel and tag us @OxfordEnvSust.
