On 19 June 2025, we held our End of Year Celebration at William Osler House, Headington. The Environmental Sustainability team welcomed more than 50 members staff and students from Green Impact groups across the University.
We reflected on the teams’ achievements in the last year advancing the University’s sustainability targets and highlighted various sustainability initiatives taking place across the institution.
The event recognised the Green Impact teams who were credited with Gold, Silver and Bronze awards as well as our Beyond Gold teams.
We have 85 registered teams, with 458 staff and students registered as team members, and 27 students joining as project assistants and auditors.
Collectively, Green Impact teams delivered 1,600 positive actions this year, reaching over 11,000 staff and students. A total of 36 teams received an award: 14 Beyond Gold, 17 Gold, and 5 Silver or Bronze.
During the event, we also announced the highly anticipated winners of the Sustainability Photographer of the Year competition, followed by a garden party with live music and refreshments.
About the award
After many years of using reclaimed slates, we renew our awards and brought them closer to home.
Our new awards were crafted from reclaimed wood that use to be bookshelves in the old Radcliffe Science Library in ORQ. In 2019 the library was moved, and the wood was saved and stored by the university joiners.
Years later, the awards are celebrated as a symbol to our sustainably commitment and our legacy.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the University community for their continued commitment to environmental sustainability. We are also delighted to announce the recipients of the following awards:
