A warm welcome to all new and returning Green Impact teams as we embark on our Green Impact journey for 2024-25.

Join the hundreds of colleagues who are contributing to achieving the University’s strategic environmental goals. Last year, 35 Green Impact teams achieved Bronze, Silver, Gold or Beyond Gold accreditation, with over 2,000 collective actions completed.

As always, we will release an updated Green Impact toolkit, featuring a diverse list of actions for you and your team to work on. Actions are impactful changes that you can apply as a team of volunteers and relating to the set priorities in the Environmental Sustainability Strategy.

The updated workbook will be available on the Green Impact platform in the week commencing 30 September

Green Impact welcome session

We will be hosting a welcome session for all Green Impact teams on 2 October 2024 at 12:30, online. For new teams, this will serve as a general induction to help you familiarise yourself with the Green Impact platform and its objectives. It will also be beneficial for existing teams as a refresher of our goals and priorities.

Freshers’ Fair – it's nice to meet you

Once again, we are excited to meet new and returning students at our stall at Freshers’ Fair. On 9 and 10 October, we will be there throughout the day.  Be sure to stop by and say hello and hear about the environmental opportunities available for students (of all disciplines).

Green Impact Project Assistant (GIPA) and project management training

On 23 October 2024, we will be hosting a project management training session for Green Impact Project Assistants (GIPAs). This is a fantastic opportunity to become a project coordinator, lead environmental change in a “real life” setting, identify and address challenges and gain valuable employable skills.

After completing the training, students are assigned to an existing Green Impact team or receive support to start their own project.  You can find out more and register here.

Existing teams – start the year with a student assistant for your Green Impact projects

Green Impact teams that would like to be assigned a student assistant to support their planned work, please email Faz Jebin (Sustainability Officer) here. Please share the topic or project you want the students to work on for optimal matching.
